“This presentation will focus on the Auschwitz extermination camp through a series of rare photographs – the only ones which somehow were allowed to be taken. In addition, Auschwitz will be placed within a context of the larger Holocaust and the forces which led to it.
Remembrance is the most powerful counter to the hatred that spawned the Holocaust. Six million is more than a number–it is six million individual lives, families, communities. Thus, there will also be a retelling of the life stories of some of those who perished.
John Egan [Presenter] is a semi-retired historian who has taught Holocaust history and the history of 20th century genocides at Sheridan College and the University of Kansas.”
